European Spaces of Culture

Call for Proposals: European Spaces of Culture

EUNIC has launched the new European Spaces of Culture call for proposals, and is looking for exciting and ambitious international cultural relations projects worldwide.
Apply by 29 January 2027.

The call aims to support contemporary and innovative projects in areas including cultural rights and democracy, artistic freedom, empowerment of cultural professionals, youth participation, resilience and peace-building, cultural heritage protection and promotion, innovation, digital and green transformation of the cultural and creative sectors and industries.

Projects should reflect the principles of international cultural relations, including co-creation, dialogue, mutual listening, and joint capacity building among all partners.

The call places a partial focus on the South Mediterranean, supporting projects that foster cultural dialogue and sustainable partnerships in line with the Pact for the Mediterranean.

Purpose of the call

Since its launch as a Preparatory Action in 2019, European Spaces of Culture has developed into a leading EU initiative for international cultural relations.

Managed by EUNIC, the programme supports innovative, small-scale and short-term projects that bring together local cultural and civil society actors, EUNIC members and EU Delegations in triangular partnerships based on equity, inclusion and reciprocity.

This call invites new collaborations and partnerships that respond to local contexts, explore innovative approaches to cultural relations and contribute to lasting cooperation beyond the duration of the project.

Evaluation & selection

Two teams of independent jury members, one for each strand of the call for proposals, will evaluate incoming project proposals to ensure a fair and thorough assessment with relevant regional expertise.

All applications will be evaluated based on the selection criteria as stated in the call for proposals document.
